Practical considerations
Schools may be concerned as to whether students can develop the level of analysis and evaluation required for advanced historical study, particularly across source‑based and interpretative papers. This course addresses this through structured preparation for Paper 1 (Historical Sources) and Paper 3 (Historical Interpretations) where students must analyse sources and historiography in depth.
Students complete regular assignments focused on evidence‑based argument, interpretation of differing viewpoints, and sustained essay writing. Teacher feedback is aligned to Cambridge mark schemes, ensuring progression in analytical precision, use of evidence, and the ability to construct well‑supported historical judgements.
