Cambridge A Level Classical Studies

Overview

The Cambridge A level Classical Studies course includes elements of History, Literature and the History of Art. Students will be immersed in the civilisations of ancient Greece and Rome through a range of sources including texts and archaeological discoveries.

Analytical and evaluation skills will be developed and students will learn how to develop arguments to support their ideas within their essay writing.

Syllabus and exams

This course prepares students for the Cambridge (CIE) Syllabus 9274.

Please note exams only take place in November.

Course Advice

Students will need the following grades at IGCSE (or equivalent):

English Literature (B or 6) or History (B or 6), First Language English (C or 4), Maths (C or 4).
The recommended IELTS equivalent is IELTS 7.0/7.5.

Our AS course will take approximately 250 hours of study. Our full A level course will take appropriately 500 hours of study. Both AS and A level courses will require extra time for preparation of the assignments and revision at the end of the course.
