Edexcel A level History of Art

Our Edexcel A level History of Art course involves the study of art and architecture ranging from the classical period through to the 20th century.

Students will acquire the skills and technical vocabulary necessary to analyse material from a range of cultures, developing critical and evaluative skills as they study key works of art and architecture within their historical contexts.

Syllabus and exams

This course prepares students for the Edexcel A level History of Art syllabus 9HT0.

There is no AS level for this subject.

Exams take place in May/June only.

Course advice

In order to study this Edexcel A level History of Art course we would recommend that students have achieved at least the following grades at IGCSE (or equivalent level):

  • First Language English (C or 4), Maths (C or 4).
  • The recommended IELTS equivalent is IELTS 6.0/6.5.

Our AS course will take approximately 250 hours of study. Our full A level course will take appropriately 500 hours of study. Both AS and A level courses will require extra time for preparation of the assignments and revision at the end of the course.
